Great skate for my daughter and inexpensive.
The sizes run small on this. You might want to get a size or two larger. So much better then the rental skates -- the blade is sharp and not all dinged up. The boots probably aren't as comfortable as more expensive boots, but my daughter hasn't complained and the skates have dramatically improved her skating.
I also bought the mens skate that is basically the same model and just paid for shipping one time as sold by skatebuys through amazon with one checkout. The sizes also run small on this -- I wear a 9.5 to 10 shoe and bought a size 11 skate which fits just right. I haven't skated on sharp blades for over 20 years -- it's great(I didn't pay for the extra sharpenning and they are plenty sharp).
The boots could be a bit more comfortable especially the upper tong -- but as they break in they are getting more comfortable.

Just okay for the price...Mar 01, 2011
By Ekaterina Kashkash I am actually surprised to see such high ratings for these skates. We own four pairs of these - three for my girls and one adult version of the same model. Out of four pairs only one is fine. Basically the problem is very cheap, plastic-like material the boot is made of. Material gets easily deformed on the "tongue" of the boot and nothing will ever fix this - once deformed the whole boot is a piece of junk. The deformed "tongue" cuts into the skin causing major discomfort. You have to keep wiggling it every possible way to straighten it as much as possible when the boot is already on but before you lace it up. Very annoying issue. The issue gets even worse if you store the skates in garage or trunk of the car in the winter. The cold temperatures make the boot even more stiff and more difficult to fit comfortably into.
I also agree that these run small. My oldest for example wears street shoe size 1.5, but grew out of size 2 already and wears size 4 skates now (factoring in some room to grow).
Yes, they are very cheap - thats a big plus for someone who just wants to try skating and is reluctant to invest in more expensive skates just yet. Although I personally wish I got better, more expensive skates. Even if your kids turn out to hate skating, there is so much demand for good skates on online auctions, you probably wouldn't get stuck with your pair for long anyway.

Skates!Jun 21, 2010
By BJ Love the product! Great product at a great price. I do wish to complain about the company Skate Buys, though. I initially purchased these skates in a size 13 for my daughter 2 years ago for her 5th birthday. The skates run small and we couldn't get her feet in them for her skating birthday party. I returned the skates for a replacement and waited TWO years and a TON of emails later - the customer service department kept assuring me the skates were on their way... even weeks/months later, they were STILL on their way! They never had any intentions of replacing them or refunding my money. I finally gave up and purchased them again, now in a size 3 for my daughter's 7th birthday. Thank goodness they are not expensive, but it was the principle of the matter. They are a bit too big but she will grow into them. They didn't have a size 2 available which is probably what we needed. I was too afraid to purchase the size 1 which is actually what my daughter wears for fear of them running small again.
